What's it About?
Re-connect with friends and family from the Balla area!
All are welcome.
This walk is mainly aimed at anyone from Balla past or present, people married to Balla people, children of Balla people, friends of Balla people.....even those who pretend that they are from Balla.

Saturday July 27th
Meet: @ 9:30am Balla Community Centre
Bus: @ 10:15am to the start....we need to know if you need a seat.

Walk Starts @ 11am @ Ballintubber Abbey
Finish: In Balla.
Distance: 17km.
***See Note 1 below if 17km is too far for you to walk.
Duration: 4 to 5 hours.
Route: The route is mostly flat and mostly on the way-marked Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail.

Pilgrims on this route would usually walk towards Croagh Patrick.

In the past, pilgrims had to walk home ...hence we finish in Balla.
Gear: Walking boots and rain gear required.
Refreshments: You should bring a sandwich or small snack and a drink.
Donation €10 to cover the cost of the bus and refreshments at the start and end.
"Cancer Care West" is the charity we are supporting on the day.
Note1 : Anyone who feel they cannot complete the full 17km are more than welcome to join the walk at any stage on the route. eg. @ Ballinafad, Loona, Brownhall, ...etc. or you can walk from Balla and meet the walkers on the way home.
